# Galactic Timeline — Phase 6

## Phase 6: The Continuing Pattern

**Time span:** The present era of ongoing formation, exchange, and observation.

### Poem

We see what has already
finished leaving.

The light that arrives
is the record
of a decision
the source no longer
has to keep.

What is forming now
will be someone else's
old light.

The pattern continues
because nothing
has been asked
to stop.

### Facts

This phase covers the current state of the observable universe: continued star formation, ongoing exchange of material, and the reception of light that left its sources long ago.

- New stars and systems continue to form from material released by earlier ones.
- The light we receive now left its sources at different times; the farther the source, the earlier the departure.
- Local processes (formation, collapse, exchange) continue while the larger expansion continues.
- Observation is always of the past; the present of distant regions is not yet visible.

The poem notes that the light we see is already a completed event for its source. The pattern does not require a final state.

### Spacing note
Phase 5 ends with established exchange between systems.
Phase 6 is the ongoing condition in which that exchange, formation, and observation continue together.
There is no closing gap; the phase remains open.
